City of Lee's Summit is Hiring an Utility Technician Near Summit, MO

The Utility Technician, under the general supervision of the Metered Services Supervisor Water Utilities, performs customer service, field data acquisition, provides field and general assistance with a variety of water services related programs and projects, map updates, Cross Connection Control program inspection, coordination and enforcement of water utilities regulations.

High School graduate or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of related experience required and
Missouri DNR certification as a backflow prevention assembly tester or ability to acquire same within 6months of hire required and
Valid State motor vehicle operator’s license and acceptable driving record required

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: 
  • Working knowledge of applicable Municipal codes, standards and regulations pertinent to enforcement of backflow prevention and public water and sewer codes and standards
  • Current working knowledge of LSCO Chapter 32, City of Lee’s Summit Design and Construction Manual water and sewer standards and related details, International Plumbing Code backflow prevention requirements and State of Missouri backflow prevention regulations
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, CIS, CityWorks, CityView, GIS and other applicable software programs
  • Ability to communicate, interact and function effectively, both in oral and written format with property owners, supervisors, employees and members of the general public
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships with a diverse group of customers
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications related to plumbing, public water utilities and backflow prevention devices.
