The Maintenance Worker provides semi-skilled maintenance and occasional custodial work at the Airport. Responsibilities include building, exterior/airfield, and equipment maintenance to ensure general cleanliness and safe operation of the Airport.

This position offers pro-rated sick, vacation and holiday time.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

• Basic knowledge of custodial and maintenance work.
• Experience with maintenance and construction equipment operation preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Class B CDL license preferred.

1. Wash walls and windows; empty trash receptacles; dust, polish and move furniture as requested; clean lavatories, wash basins and drinking fountains; empty wastebaskets; and provide for the general cleanliness and order of Airport facilities.

2. Clean, service and make minor repairs/adjustments to heating and ventilating systems, plumbing and electrical systems, and replace lightbulbs (not at height).

3. Maintain and repair physical plant, including painting; minor repairs/adjustments to heating and ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems; and general building repairs.

4. Open and close facilities as requested; set up facilities for meetings or events; assist visitors as necessary.

5. Provide snow removal, sanding and de-icing, and grounds maintenance as required. Provide airfield snow removal if properly trained.

6. Perform airfield safety inspections, surface conditions report and file Notices to Airmen as necessary.

7. May oversee service providers as required.

8. Perform daily inspections for airport safety.

9. Assist in maintaining airfield lighting system.

10. Perform wildlife security patrols; inspect and secure gates, fencing and buildings.

11. Perform preventive maintenance on airport equipment and assist maintenance staff as required.

12. Assist with special projects and events as required, including assisting visitors, set-up and take-down of equipment, and related tasks.

13. Make deliveries as required.

14. Responsible for recycling, including sorting and taking to landfill.

15. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and stock janitor’s closet.

16. Inspect facilities for general security, safety, maintenance, and cleanliness concerns.

17. Attend meetings and training as required.

18. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as the situation dictates.

19. Perform maintenance on airfield systems to include power, lighting, snow removal, tree clearing, mowing, pavement, and drainage.

Education, Training and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year of prior maintenance experience.

Job Environment:

• Work is in a variety of inside and outside work environments, depending on work assignment.
• Work occasionally requires climbing ladders or working under hazardous conditions, such as clearing icy sidewalks.
• The position requires regular interaction with Airport employees and the public.
• Schedules are determined by Airport needs and may include seasonal, night and/or weekend work.
• Ability to operate and maintain a wide range of equipment, including light trucks, power and hand tools, cleaning equipment and tools.
• Work involves occasional exposure to chemicals.
• Errors could result in damage to buildings and equipment, injury to self and others, and create some hazards to safety.
