City of Lawrence is Hiring a TRANSIT PLANNER I/II Near Lawrence, KS
Summary: Lawrence Transit is seeking a Planner I or II candidate skilled in data analysis, data visualization, and detail-oriented problem solving to join our team. This position may be a good fit for an entry-level-seeking candidate, or a candidate with 1-3 years’ experience, depending on skillset. Responsibilities: Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Transit Planner I
Responsible for monthly and annual National Transit Database (NTD) reporting;
Monthly transit performance data analysis (ridership, on-time performance);
Monthly contractor oversight to ensure accurate reporting;
Title VI program management;
Monthly Drug and Alcohol Management Information Systems (DAMIS) reporting; and
Provide internal support with procurement and contracting
Transit Planner II
Observing and meeting all responsibility requirements of Transit Planner I
Supervisory role of intern(s)
Qualifications: Transit Planner I
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban planning, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
Training or coursework in data management and analysis and/or policy analysis is preferred.
Strong analytical skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently are a must for this position.
The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in cross-discipline teams.
The successful candidate must pass a background check, post-offer physical, and drug screen.
Transit Planner II
Meeting all qualifications requirements of Transit Planner I
Equivalent to a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in planning, urban design, landscape architecture, public administration, or a closely related field.
Two years of increasingly responsible professional planning experience in urban planning or a closely related field.
