Under general supervision the purpose of this classification is to provide technical support for computer hardware and software. Employees in this classification install, upgrade, advise, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software. Position reports to the Information Systems Manager. Performs related work as required.Provides frontline technical support for organizations computer systems.
 
Implements and coordinates software installation and upgrades.
Installs and replaces new hardware and/or replacement parts.
 
Performs recommended maintenance on personal computers and related peripherals.
 
Maintains inventory of all City computer equipment and software.
 
Resolves technical and user hardware and software systems.
Advises and instructs users on the use of hardware and software systems.
 
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence or other documents.
 
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, manuals or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards, or retains as appropriate.
 
Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, or other software programs.
 
Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information or resolve problems.

High School diploma or GED equivalency; supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in computer technology; supplemented by twelve (12) months of computer technical experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skill, and abilities for this job.
