Description
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to procure goods and services for the City. Employees in this classification perform purchasing and contracting work. Position is responsible for processing purchase orders, quotations, bid specifications; purchasing supplies/equipment, bid review, and other purchasing functions. Performs related work as directed.
Examples of Duties

Performs competitive bid processes; prepares bid specifications, conducts public opening of bids, analyzes bid, prepares for City Commission approval.
Processes and files Purchase Orders
Responds to inquiries and requests from city departments and the general public.
Attends purchasing meetings.
Orders, receives, stocks, and distributes supplies and materials.
Prepare periodic reports documenting events and activities such as bid tracking spreadsheets and inventory reports.
Must be cognizant of City Policy Manuals and Procurement Codes to ensure work is performed correctly.
Coordinates and negotiates with vendors to ensure that the City acquires the highest quality goods and services for the best price.

Minimum Training and Experience
Minimum of 60 credits towards an Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or closely related field; supplemented by minimum three (3) years previous experience and/or training that includes purchasing, contracts and inventory control; or a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with 2 years experience in purchasing and asset management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
