Supervises water or wastewater treatment plant operations. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of a crew operating and maintaining wastewater or water treatment plants. Ensures adherence to operating policies and procedures and compliance with federal and state regulations. Assists in the preparation of treatment plant budgets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff. Supervisory functions include: makes hiring and termination decisions; prioritizes assignments and directs work; develops and oversees employee work schedules and approves time away from work; provides and/or facilitates employee training and development; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee performance appraisals; determines or makes recommendations regarding new hire salaries and salary changes; and acts as liaison between employees and management.
- Oversees the operation of four wastewater treatment plants. Ensures that all plants meet permit requirements; monitors operators’ bench work and record keeping. Troubleshoots plants to optimize the effluent treatment and checks calibration dissolved oxygen and PH meters.
- Oversees sampling required by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Inputs and maintain data.
- Communicates with vendors and schedules preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Licenses or Certifications
- TCEQ Class C Water Distribution License
- TCEQ Customer Service Inspector License
- TCEQ Wastewater Operation Class "B" License
Desirable Licenses or CertificationsValid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
