CITY OF LAREDO is Hiring a Property Compliance Inspector, (A243980-3), 206, Hamilton Housing Near Laredo, TX

Enforces Municipal Housing Codes and Regulations to ensure all tenants are in compliance with lease agreements. Conducts random inspections, logs complaints, and facilitates entry and exit of tenants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Provides for the enforcement of Municipal Housing codes and regulations, communicating tenants regarding corrective measures necessary to comply with lease requirements.
  • Facilitates entry level of new tenants or evictions/cancellations of previous tenants from such properties.
  • Assists in coordinating fumigations for City Properties.
  • Collects earnings from individually City owned laundromats on properties and deliver accounted coinage to City Finance Department; reports non-working machines to maintenance for further repairs.
  • Performs clerical duties, such as delivering correspondence between departments, assisting with staffing at Main office, answering phones, collecting rent, and creating work orders.
  • Provides occasional on-call maintenance supervision, including the handling of incoming 24hr emergency maintenance calls from tenants in Municipal Housing or Noise Abatement properties. Contacts the appropriate technician to address issue.
  • Performs related work as required.

Physical Effort Requirements Position will have the following exposures

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the fields of Public Housing, Real Estate, Housing Inspections, Code Enforcement, or a related field

Valid Licenses or Certifications

  • None

Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant hold an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment. 

As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.

Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
