Ideal candidates will be motivated individuals that can work well in a team environment as well as independently in a diverse department.
Under general supervision the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of facility maintenance and custodial duties for mechanical and environmental upkeep for City buildings. Will exercise supervision and training of provisional staff.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise provisional staff operating equipment and tools required for cleaning, maintenance and repair.
- Order necessary parts to complete assigned jobs.
- Train and verify accuracy of proper work methods, techniques and ensure adherence of compliances standards.
- Perform full range of swimming pool maintenance.
- Duties and maintenance in repair of irrigation systems, maintain controllers, and winterization procedures.
- Turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance.
- Operate range of maintenance vehicles and equipment. Including ice resurfacers, mowers, floor scrubbers, etc.
- Identify safety hazards, inventory, order PPE and ensure compliance with safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Acombination of the following experience and training would be qualifying)
- Two years of experience working with the general public.
- Basis knowledge of custodial practices.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair of buildings.
- Experience with computers operating with Microsoft Windows.
- Basic electrical experience (check breaker panels, identify problem areas).
- Knowledge of contacts to use for complex repairs.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Possession of valid driver’s license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, lift 50 pounds and push or pull 100 pounds, exposure to noise, outdoors, confined workspace, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.
Applicants who are offered an appointment are required to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening test and driver license check.
