****Note: The Physical Agility Test will be administered immediately after the Entrance Exam for those who pass the Language Skills Exam. Salary Non-certified officer appointments start at $52,497.12 annually. Upon completion of the academy the pay will be $73,968.85. Certified officer appointments start at $73,968.85. Top pay (after seven years) is $92,157.55 annually. Newly hired applicants may be given prior credit for up to six years of verifiable, full-time service as a peace officer and started as high as Step 6 with an annual salary of $89,044.48. Longevity and overtime pay are provided according to Civil Service law found in Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code. The Lancaster Police Department pays additional incentives for Intermediate, Advanced and Master Peace Officer certificates from TCOLE.
A $2,500.00 hiring incentive, paid half at hire and half upon successful completion of the field training program, is provided to applicants who are certified by TCOLE.

The City of Lancaster is one of the oldest communities in North Texas. The founder of Lancaster was"Honest A" Bledsoe born in Lancaster, Garrard County, Kentucky in 1801. In 1846, he came to Texas and secured a 640-acre tract of land, one mile west of town square today. Six years later, Bledsoe surveyed and staked off the land for the town of Lancaster in 1852. Incorporated in May 1866, Lancaster was one of the first incorporated communities in Dallas County. The City of Lancaster has a Council-Manager form of government. The City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer and the City Coun...cil makes policy. The City Manager is designated by the Charter as the Chief Administrative Officer with appointing authority for positions of employment with the City and is responsible for matters and policies relations to the general welfare of all employees.
