• Schedules staff for Lifeguard and Concessions duties with the assistance of the Assistant Aquatics Manager;
• Tracking lifeguard uniforms and supplies and ordering items when needed;
• Uses excellent customer service skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials and members of the general public;
• Perform duties of lifeguard and swim lesson instructor when necessary;
• Provide supervision of the pool and programs and when necessary, serve as the Facility Lead;
• Open and close facility as scheduled and enforce operating schedule;
• Assist in interviewing and hiring new staff members;
• Train new lifeguards and instructors and provide in-service training to current/newly hired staff members;
• Oversees Concession operations, including but not limited to scheduling staff, ordering products, and tracking waste and inventory;
• Assist in programming when necessary;
• Report all incidents to the Aquatics Manager and/or Asst. Aquatics Manager and contact the same immediately following a major problem or accident; and
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures and the operations and functions of KAC;
• Knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job;
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, members of the general public and all other groups involved in the activities of the City of Kingsport government as they relate to KAC;
• Ability to give feedback and input on procedures;
• Ability to work under limited supervision, using personal judgment in decision making;
• Ability to complete daily financial reports;
• Ability to create staff schedule with the assistance of the Asst. Aquatics Manager;
• Ability to learn Daktronics systems and Hytek for swim meets;
• Ability to assist or instruct Lifeguard Training classes; and
• Ability to run In-Service Training of staff.

High School Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 6 month’s experience in a related field. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required. Water Safety Instructor Certification and Lifeguard Instructor Certification must be acquired within 1 year of employment date. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
