City of Kingsland is Hiring a Firefighter Near Kingsland, GA

General Statement of Job

The firefighter participates in fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical operations, and all duties associated therein, assuring that fire stations and equipment are ready for emergency and non-emergency situations. Prevents fires by functioning as a certified firefighter.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Responds to emergency calls and performs fire fighting duties, including: medical emergencies; fire suppression functions; operating equipment; laying hose; raising and climbing ladders; search and rescue operations; and containing hazardous materials spills, etc.

Participates in training classes, drills, and simulations.

Studies city geography and participates in physical training and conditioning programs.

Participates in fire safety and prevention programs, makes presentations and teaches classes to the general public, assists in conducting station tours, conducts pre-incident surveys and inspections, and assists in developing pre-fire plans.

Operates radio communication equipment and acts as the Communications Officer.

Assists in searching for evidence after fire incident.

Assists other firefighters and agencies by responding to calls, serves as backup when needed.

Performs maintenance and minor repairs of the fire station, grounds, and equipment; performs safety checks on various pieces of equipment; changes oil, filters, fluids, etc., on vehicles and apparatus; and performs general housekeeping functions within and around the station.

Performs inspection and routine maintenance on fire hydrants and checks water pressure.

Maintains the grounds of the fire station, including mowing, edging, and raking.

Reports administrative and operational problems to supervisors.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.87 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 55 per week
