The Kenosha Water Utility (KWU) provides municipal water and wastewater services to nearly 110,000 people in the greater Kenosha metropolitan area, which is ideally located on Lake Michigan between Milwaukee and Chicago. Under the direction of the Director of Engineering Services or other KWU Engineering staff, this summer position assists with annual fire hydrant flushing program required by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Primary duties include: inspecting the hydrants and noting any deficiencies, flushing the hydrants to test for adequate flow and pressure; and taking measurements and recording information onto a tablet. In the event of inclement weather, work schedule may be reduced or maintenance duties may be assigned (i.e., grounds keeping, building maintenance).
