City of Kansas City is Hiring a Sustainability Coordinator (Public Health Specialist II) Near Kansas, MO

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

Full-time position with the Health Department, Office of Policy & Planning Division located at 2400 Troost Avenue
Salary Range: $24.77-$37.16/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

The Office of Policy and Planning is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the KCHD Sustainability Coordinator.

  • Must be self-starting and motivated to drive change using all resources at hand.
  • Focuses on coalition building with area businesses, non-profits, healthcare agencies, and other city departments to coordinate department sustainability and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Drives forward activities prioritized in the KC Strategic Business Plan and the KCMO Community Health Improvement Plan.
  • Monitors any work completed toward the city’s Climate Resiliency Plan and supports the office as a whole through collaborative projects.
  • Candidates should be familiar with the public health or nonprofit industries in Kansas City and practiced in either coalition building or professional networking.

Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of health related work experience, including 1 years at a level comparable to a Public Health Specialist; OR an accredited Master’s degree and 1 year of health related work experience at a level comparable to a Public Health Specialist; OR an accredited Master’s degree in Public Health; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
