Under general supervision, participates in the sampling and analysis of drinking water and wastewater samples in the field and in the Public Services Laboratory; performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is technical work that will primarily have an emphasis on either field sampling and testing or laboratory testing. Features may include field sampling as well as field and laboratory testing (physical, chemical, biological and bacteriological) required for regulatory compliance, in-house monitoring and industrial billing. The employee in this class works under the direction of the Public Services Programs Manager.
A minimum of two years of college coursework in chemistry, biology or environmental studies, including related laboratory training, or completion of the core curriculum for a Baccalaureate level minor in chemistry, biology, or a related field, plus some experience as a laboratory technician, field sampler or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge and skills.
