Library Clerks assist patrons with using library resources and provide clerical support to library staff and library processes. The library is hiring four part-time clerks for the following shifts: Clerk One: Monday - Thursday 3 - 8 pmClerk Two: Every Saturday/Sunday 12 - 5 pmClerk Three: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1 - 5 pmEvery other Saturday 1 - 5:45 pm and Sunday 12:45 - 5:15 pmClerk Four: Tuesday and Thursday 4 - 8:15 pmEvery other Saturday 8:45 am and Sunday 12:15 pm - 5:15 pm
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Checks materials in and out using standardized procedures.Sorts and checks books, videos and other library materials collected at circulation/information desk or return slots. Cleans and shelves books, videos, and related library materials as needed; checks for damages and follows prescribed procedures in processing damage requests. Monitors returned items to ensure they are undamaged.Registers new customers in library automation system; renews cards that have expired and issues replacement cards for cardholders who have lost them.Assists in holds notification process; places requested items on hold for customers; checks holds that come in.Registers and assists customers enrolled in special programs offered at the library. Assists other staff members in preparation and delivery of programs.Collects money due and makes change; records data in computer. Answers phone.Assists with the receipt of new library materials.Prepares library materials for circulation.Assists with maintenance of the physical collections and of item records in the library’s integrated library system.Retrieves weeded materials from the shelves, updates item records in the library’s integrated library system and physically prepares these materials for removal from the building. Scans item barcodes into the library’s integrated library system for inventory purposes.Assists with Interlibrary Loan lending and borrowing activities.
