The City of Jefferson is accepting applications for a Transit Service Worker for the Transit Division. This part-time with benefit position performs responsible semi-skilled work in the general care of transit buses and other equipment and facilities; does related work as required.Washes buses' exterior using an automated wash facility and steam cleaners.
Cleans buses' interiors.
Fuels and checks fluid level of transit vehicles.
Delivers replacement vehicles to operators in route.
Maintains shop spaces and grounds.
Performs related tasks as required.
High school diploma or equivalent, experience in light maintenance, care and operation of large automotive equipment preferred.Must possess a valid drivers' license and the ability to obtain a class B CDL within 6 months of hire. 
Physical: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Skills: General knowledge of the operation and routine cleaning requirements of transit passenger buses; general knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing passenger bus operations on public streets; general knowledge of routine maintenance and repair work and of the use of common hand tools; skill in the safe operation of passenger buses and the automated wash facility; ability to perform manual labor; ability to follow oral and written instructions.This position will work 7 - 7.5 hours a day, Monday - Friday and work between the hours of 9:30AM to 7:00PM.
