JOB Position is responsible for operating various medium and light equipment required in forestry management. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Prunes trees according to accepted arboricultural standards and in an efficient manner to meet schedules. Communicates climbing and pruning plans to groundsworker before leaving the ground. Climbs trees using recognized techniques and approved devices. Performs aerial rescues during drills and emergency situations. Safety conscious at all times; considering safety for self, employees, visitors, animals and structures. Performs maintenance activities, such as complete removals, on trees with existing mechanical devices. Removes, under Crew Leaders supervision, trees in a safe manner, following accepted arboricultural practices. Understands how to safely lower limbs and sections over sensitive areas. Operates, and maintains brush chippers and chain saws on a daily basis. Prepares site for tree planting by digging holes, making soil amendments, etc. Plants trees using accepted arboricultural practices. Identifies the scientific and common names of the tree collection within our Parks system. Responsible for all tools and equipment issued or assigned.
