Manages day-to-day administration of Police Department’s grant programs and contracts. Responsible for all related activities to include research, writing proposals, submitting applications, compiling and submitting all required reports and revisions, maintaining inventories, and assisting with audits as needed. Remains current with local, state, and federal ordinances, laws, and policies that impact the department’s grant programs. Drafts ordinances and prepares items for City Council review and approval. Prepares detailed financial reports, monitors and tracks expenditures, processes accounts payable and accounts receivable. Assists with the preparation of the budget for the department. Interacts with vendors on product pricing, specifications, availability, and questions on invoices. Processes training requests requiring funds to travel and works with employees to complete expense reports. Creates and maintains filing systems for financial area of responsibility. Performs general clerical and administrative duties in support of department activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Five years of progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Must have knowledge of computer applications related to the work, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. Requires knowledge of basic mathematical and statistical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and ratios, as well as principles and practices of basic accounting. Must be able to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction and multi-task. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Will be required to complete NIMS level training within first six months of hire, and Department of Justice Grant Financial Management Training Course within the first twelve months of hire.

Typical Working Conditions: A normal office environment. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Additional Requirements: Requires a valid driver’s license, drug testing, and a comprehensive background check that includes a polygraph examination.
