About our Department:
A division of Urban & Economic Development, the Community Development mission is three-fold; stabilization of lower income neighborhoods, economic empowerment of lower income persons and/or of persons living in lower income neighborhoods and providing assistance to the special needs population in our community.
Affordable Housing Manager Position Overview:
This is professional and administrative work in the development and implementation of affordable housing strategies, policies, and plans in the Community Development Department. Work involves responsibility for developing and implementing strategies, policies, and plans to address the affordable housing needs of the community. Work involves collaborating with various stakeholders to create affordable, safe, and sustainable affordable housing options including the unsheltered and the workforce while considering factors such as urban development, zoning regulations, and community quality of life. Work requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of housing policies, strategies, and regulations, as well as experience in project management and community outreach.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in urban planning, Housing Studies, Public Administration, or a related field from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Minimum of five years of experience in housing or a related field, 10 years preferred, that demonstrates the above listed knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is required.
