This position reports to and is supervised by an entity in local government as identified by the City Manager or County Administrator. Technical assistance and oversight are provided by the 6th District Court Service Unit. This position has supervisory responsibilities over any other VJCCCA employees in the locality.
Chief Objective: To oversee management and implementation of the VJCCCA grant.
Working Knowledge: Background in psychology, sociology, criminology or social work with demonstrated ability to understand adolescent behavior and work effectively in a supervisory capacity with adolescents and families from all socio-economic areas, races, creeds or religion. Ability to communicate effectively in both an oral and written capacity with demonstrated skills in interviewing and counseling adolescents and families. Knowledge of the juvenile justice system and the practices of court proceedings.
Education or Training: Bachelor’s degree in a related field to criminal justice, counseling, social work, psychology, etc. Is preferred. Specialized training in alternative dispute resolution (mediation) and substance abuse counseling is preferred.
Acknowledgments:
This position is an employee of the local government receiving VJCCCA funds. All salary, benefits and other compensation is provided through VJCCCA grant funding and local government funding. The employee is hired and supervised by the local government and all local government employee personnel policies and procedures apply.
