Qualifications

1.High School Diploma and three (3) years or more related experience working in athletics, aquatics, fitness, therapeutics or general recreation

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Health, Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Sports Management or related field

2. Ability to lift, carry and set up recreational equipment

3. Must be available to work weekends and weeknights

4. CPR and American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid Certifications are not required when applying, but must be obtained upon employment

5. Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in Sports Management or Sports Marketing
• Lifeguard Certification or willingness to become certified prior to employment

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning and organizing athletic and recreational activities/programs
• Enforces safety rules and regulations
• Maintains a wholesome environment for members and participants
• Keeps the immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress
• Promotes positive community relations through programs
• Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of inter department operations and activities
• Facilitates planning and implementation of recreational activities to encourage participation
• Participates in set up and break down of facility for events
• Completes facility maintenance tasks as requested
• Assists in youth programming with individuals with disabilities
• Performs related duties as required
