The City of Hillsboro is recruiting for two Water Treatment Plant Coordinators to oversee operations and staff at our regional water treatment plant located in Forest Grove, Oregon and the new plant currently being built in Sherwood, Oregon.
The City of Hillsboro is a partner and the managing agency of the Joint Water Commission (JWC) water treatment plant located in Forest Grove, Oregon, which serves over 450,000 customers in Washington County. The City of Hillsboro has also partnered with the Willamette Water Supply System (WWSS) to operate the water treatment plant which is currently under construction in Sherwood Oregon.
Position 1 - JWC Plant Coordinator
The person in this position will work at the JWC plant in Forest Grove Oregon and oversee operations and staff related to water treatment. Responsibilities include overseeing the operation, treatment, maintenance, and repair of water equipment, plants, and systems; identifying resource needs; participating in the development of water goals and objectives; participating in the most difficult duties related to maintenance, operation, and repair; assisting with budget tracking; and testing and operating heavy and light equipment. This work will require a wide range of skills and the ability to quickly shift priorities and perform duties ranging from operational, supervisory, and administrative to hands-on participation in maintenance and repair. Position 2 - WWSS Plant Coordinator
The person in this position will initially work at both the JWC water facility in Forest Grove, Oregon and and the WWSS water facility in Sherwood, Oregon, but will eventually move full-time to the WWSS plant as it comes closer to commissioning. In addition to performing the duties listed in Position 1, this WTP Coordinator will play a large part in commissioning the new WWSS plant, including hiring staff for the new operations and maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will have
Associate’s degree in chemistry, biology, water, wastewater technology or related field and 5 years of experience in all phases of water treatment plant operations and some supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
