City of Grove City is Hiring a Facility Maintenance Aquatics Technician Near Grove, OH

Appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Administrative Assistant, the Facility Maintenance Aquatics Technician, under the immediate supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing routine and semiskilled tasks involving general maintenance of the Big Splash, Splash pad, and other city facilities, and equipment and grounds.
 Completion of secondary education (high school or GED); must be 18 years of age; must be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy.

  • Coordinates opening and closing of aquatic facilities.
  • Operates and maintains aquatic system components including but not limited to, chemical dispersion, filtration, boiler, pumps, and water level control. 
  • Maintains and cleans pool filter, pool walls, and floor.
  • Tests pool water and adjusts accordingly and maintains daily chemical log.
  • Performs basic plumbing repairs (repairing leaks, unclogging drains, etc.)
  • Performs basic electrical work (replacing electrical receptacles and light switches)
  • Performs basic building maintenance including but not limited to installing door hardware, replacing floor and ceiling tiles, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of building mechanical systems and components (water pumps, heat pumps, filtration) troubleshooting
  • Perform cleaning procedures including, but not limited to, daily and weekly restroom cleaning, trash removal, cleaning waste receptacles, wall and interior window washing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and restocking paper supplies.
  • Inspects equipment and tools prior to operating to ensure safety.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and available after-hour emergency calls.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with contractors and special use organizations such as the YMCA. 
  • Assumes crew leader role when working alongside Part-time Aquatics Service laborers. 
  • Assists Parks Supervisor with Part-time employee schedules, after-hour calls, and shift coverage.
  • Assists with snow removal from sidewalks, building entrances, and parking lots of all city-owned and operated facilities and parking lots as needed.
  • Prepares and submits records of work completed in a timely manner including payroll, inventory orders, control, and deliveries. 
  • Plans and executes preventative maintenance and off-season repairs and upgrades of the City's aquatic facilities.
  • Assists the Parks Supervisor with scheduled and unscheduled facilities and site inspections.
  • Operates and maintains City-owned equipment as assigned (e.g., miscellaneous hand tools, power tools, and vehicles, etc.).
  • Assists the Parks Supervisor with project planning and budget preparation for the City's aquatic facilities.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance.
  • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
The employee: works with heavy equipment; works around motorized equipment; is exposed to environmental conditions, exposed to possible injury from extremely noisy conditions above 85 db; exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, air contaminants; is exposed to wet walking surfaces; works in inclement weather conditions (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, etc.); is exposed to traffic; is exposed to dirt, dust, and odor; works with moving mechanical parts of equipment or machines (e.g., mowers, saws, etc.); may occasionally be exposed to other hazardous or physically demanding working conditions experienced by divisional personnel; employee may exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and exposed to vehicular traffic when working in the public right-of-way.
 
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor's physical demands strength ratings, this is considered heavy work.
 
General knowledge in the operation of backhoe, loader, street sweeper, skid steer, snow plow, tractors, mowers, and other related equipment; saws, jackhammers, chipper, light and heavy duty motorized trucks, hand and power tools (e.g., chainsaw, air wrench, etc.).

Certified Pool Operator certification preferred or must be able to obtain within 1 year of employment.
 
Valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred or must be able to obtain within 1 year of employment. 
Must maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
