DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The position requires the performance of a variety of strenuous physical, and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance of City streets, trees, parks, the cemetery, water, stormwater, and wastewater collection systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Are, but not limited to:

· Trash collection from parks, the cemetery, and bike trails.

· Trimming and or removal of city trees.

· Concrete preparation and finishing.

· Street closures, special events assistance.

· Snow plowing of streets, sidewalks, bike trails, and asphalt patching.

· Periodically be on call to respond to after-hours emergencies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test (and subject to random drug testing).
• Must submit to a background check.
• Must possess or obtain within 1 year of hire date a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Class B Air Brake endorsement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Some knowledge of public utility construction and maintenance practices is desired.

· Some knowledge of concrete construction and welding capabilities.

· Ability to operate heavy equipment: loader, backhoe, dozer, and excavator.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
