Hiring Salary Range:$43,285-$56,954 Full Salary Range: $43,285 - $77,458 Annually

Work Schedule: Monday through Thurs or Tuesday through Friday; 6:30 am - 5:00 pm

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

The successful candidate will be a working supervisor on a mowing/landscaping crew. The primary functions of this position will involve mowing/landscaping and grounds maintenance of City of Greensboro parks, buildings, and rights of way. This person will be responsible for managing multiple projects, managing and coaching team members, and other duties involving work management documentation and personnel matters, i.e., employee development and training, and other duties as assigned. The person in this position must have knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations relating to mowing. The person will be responsible for ensuring that all OSHA and Parks and Recreation Department safety rules and policies are followed for the safety of all employees. This person should be familiar with standard operating procedures of mowing, Landscaping and pesticide application.

The successful candidate must possess good communication and writing skills with the ability to prepare reports and follow verbal and written instructions. This position requires frequent use of software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook; EAM work management software; and Kronos time-keeping software.

The physical duties include: standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is performed outside in all types of weather conditions. This employee must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement within 120 days of employment to remain in this position. This position is assigned to a 40-hour work schedule, which is typically Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch. The schedule is subject to change during a holiday week or for emergency service which may include weekends, nights, or holidays. This position may be assigned to the snow and ice removal program and may be subject to working 12-hour shifts during winter events. This employee must have good attendance and maintain a reliable means of contact (i.e., home or cellular telephone). Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of work experience in landscaping or commercial mowing
• Valid Driver's License
• Valid NC Pesticide License (“OR” the ability to obtain within the first 12 months of employment)

An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):

• Associate’s Degree or higher in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field
• Experience with EAM or other Work Management Software
• Supervisory experience
• Valid Class A CDL Driver’s License (“OR” the ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment)
• Possess current CPSI "Certified Playground Safety Inspector" certification
