City of Greeley is Hiring a Water Conservation Intern II Near Greeley, CO

Salary Range: $18.40 - $23.00 Hourly

Job Summary:

The City of Greeley Water & Sewer Department is actively searching for a passionate community member to join the Water Conservation Team as the Water Conservation Intern. This internship will not only help promote customer information systems but also provide hands-on experience in the field and office space. This position will be expected to provide excellent customer care, and support gathering, cleaning, and inputting data to shape current and future utility billing services. 

This role will require engaging with Greeley’s Water customers, assisting with daily activities such as data collection, data clean-up, entry, and analysis. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and ready to learn new techniques. 

Hours can be flexible but generally Monday through Friday. This is a maximum six-month internship position and maximum of 1040 hours. 

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled in a four-year university or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • One (1) year of experience doing general office duties like answering phone calls, emails, Outlook calendar scheduling, preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good communication skills in person and on the phone.
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team.
  • Good organizational skills and work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize work schedule, daily, weekly and projects.
  • Able to follow direction and complete duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Enter data accurately into various computer systems and perform basic data analysis.
  • Occasionally assist the water conservation team members on tasks such as performing research/water assessments on business sites for matching North American Industry Classification System codes.
  • Assist staff with making documents and images accessible according to HB 21-1110 requirements.
  • Assist with taking notes for meetings and scheduling group calendar sessions.
  • Assist in collecting community data in the field and through workshops or events.
  • Following instructions as well as taking the initiative to carry out duties without being told, once trained.
  • Provide support to internal and external City’s organizations to support customer information system’s objectives and goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Combination of office and field locations with frequent interaction with other staff and participation in meetings.
  • Office work involves sitting/standing while talking on the telephone, working on the computer, reviewing, or checking reports or data at a table.
  • Field work requires abilities to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and measure water and water attributes.
  • Exposure to all weather conditions, various types of noise, and moving mechanical parts when on project sites.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical and plumbing materials, extreme weather conditions, and noise levels.
  • Safety equipment such as hardhat, reflective safety vest, steel toe boots, and safety glasses to be used as needed.
  • Work location is a combination of office and field, sometimes in formal settings. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a group.
  • May occasionally work alone and/or evenings or early morning.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Position requires applicant to be ambulatory.
  • Mobility and manual dexterity to inspect work sites, operate vehicles, and use computer equipment.
  • Vision enough to interpret written documents, and inspect work products.
  • Communication skills to adequately convey information to contractors, property owners, other personnel, and the public.
  • Mobility to inspect work sites for compliance with plans and specifications and move over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
  • Manual dexterity to operate computer equipment and vehicles; to accurately input, retrieve, and verify work assignments; and use hands to handle, feel, and reach with hands, arms, and fingers.
  • Duties may occasionally require light to moderate physical effort that includes stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent standing or walking. 
  • Extensive work is performed on a computer.
  • Employees are occasionally exposed to outdoor work in various weather conditions.
