POSITION SUMMARY
If you are at least 15 years of age, enjoy the water, and want to work 20 to 29 hours per week, the City of Grandview is hiring lifeguards for our indoor pool and splash park at The View, Grandview’s Award Winning Community Center. We will provide lifeguard certification training for the right individuals.
Must be able to pass the American Red Cross Swim Test.

Job Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to)
· Attend initial training and in-service training for swim lesson instructors.
· Assist with opening and closing duties.
· Instructs group swim lessons in level appropriate skills.
· Evaluates swim lesson participants.
· Perform daily safety check in pool and deck areas
· Maintains an attentive lookout for potential accidents in the swimming pool and surrounding facility and appropriately corrects problems.
· Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service and positive public relations.
· Assures records of daily lesson attendance and skills checklists are appropriately documented and maintained.
· Assists with the emergency action plan and emergencies.
· Assures accident/injury, problem, incident, rescue and in-service training reports and records are appropriately documented and maintained.
· Enforces pool rules and regulations of conduct for swimming pool patrons.
· Answers questions and gives information to swimming pool patrons.
· Alerts Supervisor and/or Police to any threat of vandalism, sabotage or threat of pool equipment and grounds.
· Notifies the Head Swim Lesson Instructor, Aquatic Supervisor, Community Center Manager and Parks and Recreation office of any emergencies, problems, or conflict.
· Maintains an attentive lookout for potential accidents in the swimming pool and surrounding facility and appropriately correct any problems.
· All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
· Must be at least 15 years old or older
· Available shifts include Monday through Friday 6:50am – 9:00pm, Saturday 8:30am – 8:00pm and Sunday 10:30am – 6:00pm (We will work with students to arrange the schedules around school and sports when possible)
· Must be able to pass the American Red Cross Swim Test (continuous 300-yard swim using only front stroke and breast stroke, two minutes treading water with not using hands, and a timed brick retrieval test)
· Must be able to work some holidays and rotate weekend shifts
· Reliable transportation is required.
Pay
$14.00 per hour and certification training is paid!
