Under the direction of the Director of Environmental Resilience this position will assist the Goshen City
Forester, by watering newly planted public trees with the aid of volunteers. May assist in various other
duties necessary to the ongoing health of Goshen’s urban forest. The following duties are normal for this
position but not all-inclusive.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Fill 1000-gallon water tank every morning, and at authorized hydrant sites during the work period.
Basic operation of watering equipment, including pull-start water pump.
Navigate traffic while pulling water tank trailer.
Assist with watering trees.
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Familiarity with Google maps.
Ability to operate automatic shift pick-up truck.

Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years old.
Valid Indiana Driver’s License.
Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities:
Ability to operate a variety of automated machines.
Ability to exert physical effort in light to moderate work involving routine stooping, kneeling,

crouching, and reaching; ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to fifty pounds.

Mathematical Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate decimals and percentages, interpret graphs, and

measure data.
Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication:
Ability to multitask
Ability to manage time well
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, other City personnel, and public

verbally and in writing.
Responsible, organized and provide attention to detail.
Ability to comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational documents.

Environmental Adaptability:
Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment being exposed to extreme weather conditions.

Rate of Pay:
Grade 4 as designated by current salary ordinance.
Minimum:$18.00 – Midpoint: $20.00/hourly based on current salary ordinance.
Work Hours:
Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Mid-May through the end of September).
