Fossil Trace Golf Club is one of Denver's premier public golf courses, nestled adjacent to the foothills of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and only 15 minutes from downtown Denver. In its short history, the golf course has enjoyed tremendous success and is considered one of the finest golf courses and golf experiences available in Denver and all of Colorado.
We are looking for qualified candidates to fill our Guest Services position. This position, under direct supervision of the Assistant Golf Professional, Guest Services Staff may be assigned to a variety of duties in guest services including Cart and Range Attendant, Player Assistant, and Starter. Assignments are based on needs of the organization. May be required to work early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Guest Services at Fossil Trace is a seasonal position, 16-40 hours per week during the chosen season. Long-term seasonal may begin as early as March 1 and end as late as October 31st (weather dependent). Short-term seasonal is a summer position dependent on school schedule. Shifts may begin as early as 5:00am and end as late as 9:00pm, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Cart and Range Attendant Duties

CART FLEET

Provide service and hospitality to golf course guests in the areas of cart and range operations, bag drop and club services, event services and other duties as assigned. 

Manage cart staging area, ensuring an appropriate number of carts are professionally presented through careful operation, cleaning, and maintenance.

Safely operates, parks, and stores each cart in the designated area marked.

Replaces sand/seed in containers and refills ball washers as needed.

Ensures all carts are accounted for each day.

Checks carts for damage, mechanical problems, steering, and brake problems. Reports all problems in writing to the Head Golf Professional, cart and range lead and documents accordingly.

Keeps the cart storage/ wash area litter free and orderly. Locks the cart storage area nightly.

Inspects and cleans all rental club sets nightly. Ensures the correct number of clubs is cleaned for the next day’s use.

PRACTICE RANGE

Ensures the range is set appropriately, organized and an adequate number of range balls and baskets are available. Picks up range baskets after use and returns them to the range building. 

Operates the Driving Range ball picker and all equipment in a safe, non-destructive manner.

Washes range balls after each picking prior to distribution. Sorts and disposes of all range balls unfit for distribution. Unplugs balls from the landing area as needed.

Reports any damage or misuse of equipment or property immediately in writing to the Head Golf Professional, cart and range lead and document accordingly.

Ensures all safety practices are enforced. Responsible for the cleanliness of the range building. Ensures that all equipment is stored properly.

Player Assistant Duties

Provides service and hospitality to golf course guests and other duties as assigned.

Uses GPS and Pace Sheets to coordinates the flow of golfers on the course with help from the golf shop.

Maintains communication via radio or phone with golf shop and course assistants.

Assists with cart fleet a requested, including inoperable or damaged carts and carts assigned to disabled or handicapped guests. Fills divots and repairs ball marks as needed.

May be required to assist in the event of an accident/injury on the golf course.

Enforces cooler restrictions and protects the golf course and equipment from abuse.

Performs all Cart and Range Duties as requested.

Starter Duties

Provides service and hospitality to golf course guests and other duties as assigned.

Provides greeting and welcomes all guest to the club, shares specific information with players to assist in creating a quality golf experience and then sends players to the appropriate tee box to begin play.

Uses technology to document starting times, cart numbers and/or needed information to help identify specific players/groups.

Maintains communication via radio or phone with Golf shop and player assistants

Maximizes the use of the golf course by grouping players as needed – sending 4 players at every opportunity.

Monitors golf equipment requirements, enforces cooler restrictions and reports violations to the Head Golf Professional or Golf Shop Lead.

Performs all Cart and Range Duties as requested.

Must be at least 16 years of age by date of hire. Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with guests, employees, and representatives of other agencies. Must be able to speak clearly on telephone, radio, and paging system.

Working knowledge of the game of golf preferred. Must be able to write clearly and decipher and plan optimizing the scheduling of a tee time sheet.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret City of Golden policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, citizens and others verbally and in writing. Must possess outstanding customer service skills and ability to deal with diverse populations. Ability to respond to customer concerns promptly and effectively. 
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to complete time sheets.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Golf carts, range cart, phone, copies, computer, golf equipment. 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, exhibit manual dexterity and the ability to handle objects. Must be able to lift 100 pounds assisted and 50 pounds unassisted. This position requires the ability to drive a motorized vehicle. This position requires exposure to all types of weather and grasses. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face to face communication is needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and sun. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Some office environment exposure with low noise levels.
