City of Gibbon is Hiring a Wastewater Operator Near Gibbon, NE

Position Overview: The City of Gibbon is seeking a certified Grade II or Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator/Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing skilled and manual labor work in the operation of the City's wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. The primary objective of this role is to treat wastewater effectively and maintain plant equipment and grounds in compliance with State permits. This position requires significant interpretive judgment within prescribed standards and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust chemical dosages as needed for effective treatment.
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant operations and laboratory test results.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and permits.
  • Supervise and train plant staff as necessary.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Grade II or Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in wastewater treatment operations preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
