City of Garfield Heights is Hiring a Clerical Support Near Garfield, OH

POSITION TITLE: Clerical Support

DEPARTMENT: Building Department

SUPERVISOR: Building Commissioner

STARTING PAY RANGE: $18.61 - $19.21 / hour

STATUS: FULL-TIME WITH BENEFITS

BARGAINING UNIT: OHIO COUNCIL 8 AFSCME, AFL-CIO

JOB SUMMARY:

The Building Department is seeking an energetic person for the FULL-TIME position of Clerical Support. An ideal applicant will possess a desire to serve the public and be a self-starter with excellent customer service skills. Consistency and accuracy in your work is a MUST. The ideal candidate can present knowledge of the building trades, including methods and terms. This is a high-volume office and the ability to multi-task is a necessity.

QUALIFICATIONS / DUTIES:

The selected candidate will be responsible for any clerical duties within the Building Department including but not limited to:

  • Support developers, contractors and residents in person and by phone.
  • Proficient with office equipment including computers, printers, fax, copiers. & Mailing equip.
  • Proficient with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Learn and master Smart Gov building software.
  • Issue building permits and schedule inspections.
  • Time sensitive research of property ownership, update databases, track foreclosures and Sheriff sales obtained from multiple record sources.
  • Proficient in Data Entry
  • Prepare documents to support court filings within timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned / requested.
  • Support Building Inspectors with clerical duties.
  • Must be a people person and value customer service.
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary to the success of the building department.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma / GED required
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Must have a driver's license
  • Must be insurable
  • Must obtain Ohio State Notary Seal within ninety (90) days of employment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.61 - $19.21 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
