GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of a State Certified Operator and/or the Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent, performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and construction work in the operation of water systems. Work involves the following. Removes and resets meters, installs new meters and meter boxes. Repairs, maintains and installs distribution system, such as main-lines, service-lines, fire hydrants, valves, meters and related equipment. Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans and flushes water main-lines, valves and hydrants. Checks pipes and fittings for repair or replacement. Operates tapping and compaction equipment, jackhammer, power tools associated with utility work, front-end loader and backhoe. Performs all related duties as assigned and is required to work on holidays, weekends and after hours in a variety of weather conditions.
