JOB
The City has implemented two bonus programs for seasonal staff! 1 – Referral BonusAny applicant can refer up to 4 candidates ($50* per candidate). We are proud to have over 50 different parks totaling more than 750 acres of parkland. Our team works hard to provide a variety of programs, events, and spaces for residents to connect with the community and the environment.Assists with the maintenance of parks and grounds areas as well as facilities and equipment by performing various manual tasks. Performs construction, janitorial and custodial tasks involved in maintenance of City streets, parks and property. This position typically works 35 hours per week.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Works in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks and recreation facilities, equipment and building and grounds; performs associated paperwork.Performs street tree maintenance, turf and ball field maintenance and landscaping and mowing activities as directed.Performs janitorial and custodial tasks involved in maintenance of City streets, parks and property; includes maintenance and custodial tasks related to restroom facilities.Drive(s) a city vehicle.Handles equipment in a safe and appropriate manner; uses appropriate safety equipment when performing essential and important job functions.Participates in snow removal when necessary.This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.** Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.Visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication or parts at or within arm’s length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities.The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibrations, hazards and atmospheric conditions.The worker may be called to work 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.The worker will be required to follow all safety policies and procedures and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.Performs related tasks as required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of: The principles, practices, equipment, tools and materials used in parks maintenance and construction.The necessary precautions involved in the use of tools and landscaping equipment.Landscaping and horticulture practices as applied to parks and grounds areas.Skill in: Performing various manual tasks by operating assigned pieces of equipment.Ability to: (Mental and Physical Abilities)Work independently with limited direction given.Apply problem solving skills and perform critical thinking.Understand and follow specific oral instructions.Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.Lift heavy articles.Read and write letters and numbers.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Working Conditions: The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions The worker may be called to work 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions.
