Full- Time School Resource Officer

CLASSIFICATION RANGE: $16.00-22.00/hr.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISION:

Supervised By: Police Chief/Police Sergeant

The City of Frontenac is accepting applications for a full-time School Resource Officer (SRO). Successful candidates will be professional and motivated with strong moral character and an interest in protecting and serving the residents of Frontenac and students of Frontenac USD 249. Applicants should possess a community-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience in family counseling is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and basic typing skills are required.

The School Resource Officer will work five eight-hour shifts during the 174-day school year and transition to a patrol officer over the summer on an 8 or 12-hour shift. Attendance at some extracurricular school related activities (sporting events, graduation, etc.) will be required. Officer will be required to obtain certifications which will further enhance the SRO's presence in the schools.

The hiring range is $16.00 - $22.00/hr.; actual rate determined by experience.

A High School Diploma or equivalent, Kansas driver's license, and background check are required. Three year of law enforcement or similar experience is preferred. Graduation from a Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, or reciprocating training center will be required, but the City of Frontenac will pay for your attendance at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center if not already certified. Upon completion, you will receive the opportunity for further advanced training as you progress in your career.
