Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, providing direction to staff, assisting with planning and managing special events, monitoring of participants, providing instruction to participants, cash handling and daily reporting, excellent communication skills, processing of registrations, miscellaneous daily paper work, general clean up and custodial duties. Directs non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation: Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Monitor children and adults during public open skating; rent skates to customers.Assist with planning and managing events, including, but not limited to set up and removal of equipment, decorations, and food supplies.Assist with onsite sports programs including but not limited to, set up and take down of sporting equipment.Provide information and instruction to clients with respect to buildings, facilities, and programs.Responsible for security and closing building.Prepare and maintain records and reportsResponsible for cash handling, as needed.Perform custodial duties, as needed.May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.Performs other duties as assigned.When Assigned to STARS: Assist with planning and managing after school programs, out-of-school programs and athletic programs for children and adults.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Skilled to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Skill to make sound judgment. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.Ability to operate necessary equipment including but not limited to, ice resurfacing equipment, ice skate sharpener and sporting equipment, computer, telephone, facsimile machine and copier.Ability to lift and rescue swimmers who are in need of assistanceAbility to work in heat, humidity, wetness, and around noise, fumes and odors
