The City of Fishers is seeking a part-time Community Outreach Field Support to join the Department of Fire & Emergency Services. Under the general direction of the External Affairs Division, this position will be responsible for educating the citizens of Fishers on how to live safely through preventative and informed safety measures. A key component will be teaching and promoting safety to our community. This is a part-time role and must be flexible to work a schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends depending on business needs. This role is expected to work approximately 29 hours per week on average.

• Teach age-appropriate materials to school age children
• Teach Family/Friends CPR in our business community and groups
• Give station tours with crews for elementary school visits
• Staff booth and provide education at safety, health, and public events
• Build relationships and education during lunch and recess with students
• Drive various vehicles as needed for events and speaking engagements
• Identify needed resources/tools for education and management
• Other fire and safety education duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree preferred with a major in Education, Training and Development, Health Education, or similar teaching and education field but experience in Community Risk Reduction will be considered;
• Comprehensive skills and proven ability in public interaction, teaching models, and creative program development required;
• Must have valid driver's license and be cleared to drive city vehicles through city insurance provider. This includes at least 3 years of experience as a licensed driver;
• Ability to quickly adapt to changes in situations required;
• Ability to become certified in Public Education I and II, and CPR Instructor within 3 years of hire is required; 
• High level presentation skills required for all age groups with the ability to engage all audiences in all subject matter;
• Self-starter attitude and the ability to inspire others to perform is critical for success in this role;
• Ability to travel for local and national education and training conferences;
• Must be flexible to work a schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends depending on business needs.
