Hiring Range: $25.71 - $32.78 / Hour D.O.Q.INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.A RESUME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN DETERMINING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for an Emergency Vehicle Technician to perform highly skilled tasks in the service, repair and maintenance of Emergency Fire Apparatus vehicles and equipment; specialized equipment and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility; to provide technical assistance to lower level mechanic; and perform the most complex and difficult repairs in the Fleet Division.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform highly skilled mechanical duties involving the repair and maintenance of Emergency Fire Apparatus vehicles and equipment; specialized equipment and technical task related to assigned are of responsibility.Inspect, diagnose and locate mechanical difficulties on a variety of heavy-duty fire equipment and vehicles; recommend solutions; perform preventative maintenance and repair equipment.Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports; manage annual maintenance logs in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).Diagnose, maintain and repair electrical systems components, ignition systems, computers, alternators, high voltage power generators, starter and batteries; diagnose, maintain hydraulic systems.Diagnose and repair front and rear drive axles, drive train components, belts, gears, chain drives and propeller shafts; repair faulty parts on equipment and vehicle fleet.Repair, adjust or replace engines, transmissions, differentials, and clutches and hydraulic and air brake systems; tune up engines and propane fuel systems.Fabricate and assemble parts for automotive and heavy equipment; modify and repair body panels and chassis parts.Operate various mechanical equipment and ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures.Perform vehicle and equipment safety inspections; provide detailed records of maintenance services performed; assist in the general maintenance and cleaning of shop area.Provide technical assistance to lower level staff.For a complete job description, click here.
