Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:

This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Note: All City of Fayetteville positions require employees to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Other essential duties of this position include the following:

  1. Maintain and operate equipment.
  2. Drive dump trucks in a safe manner.
  3. Work call duty as assigned.
  4. Assist supervisor with the planning and preparation of jobs.
  5. Assist supervisor in ensuring crew members are working to their potential.
  6. Know and understand other utility markings.
  7. Communicate with the public in a professional manner.
  8. Function as supervisor in the absence of the crew leader.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
  1. Secondary duties as assigned.
  1. High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience.
  2. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker (N) endorsement within six months of employment.
  1. Must possess at minimum an Arkansas Grade I Water Distribution License and obtain an Arkansas Class I Wastewater License within two years of employment.
  2. Prefer Arkansas Highway Work Zone Traffic Safety License.
  3. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed for emergencies or while on call duty.
  4. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information to customers and the general public.
  6. Prefer proficiency in the use of backhoe, dump truck, service truck, air compressor, Mini-x, track hoe, trench boxes, dozer, concrete truck, sewer wash truck, tap machine and core drill.
  7. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  8. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet/and or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; confined space; risk of electrical shock; and risk of vibration. The work environment can be loud.
