From inspecting and operating infrastructure to maintaining records and providing exceptional customer service, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our city's utilities run smoothly. If you're a collaborative problem-solver who loves working outdoors and making a difference, we want to hear from you!No experience in Utilities? No problem!We'll provide you with all the training and resources you'll need to successfully step into this role, including training to obtain the required licensures for this position.Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications of the position will be invited to complete a pre-recorded video interview. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
In this position you will: Inspect, operate, and maintain the City’s utility infrastructure. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Water Distribution – main break repairs, valve operation and repair, hydrant inspection and repair, meter replacements, etc.Sanitary Collection – sewer jetting, sewer inspection (CCTV), lift station inspection, etc.Storm Conveyance – sewer jetting, sewer inspection (CCTV), lift station inspections, pond inlet/outlets inspection, etc.Enter, review, and maintain inspection, maintenance, and repair records of City infrastructure. Interpret, update, and record as-built and location plan informationMaintain a positive, close working relationship with customers (customer service to residents and businesses) while providing general inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of utility systemsLocate of City infrastructure under the Gopher State One Call system. Assist internal departments as directed by Utility SupervisorsLeverage and utilize technology daily to gather and record information/data; examples include communication (email, smart phone, text, etc.), SCADA, records management, GIS applications, GPS collection, work management applications, etc.Responds to emergency call-outs after scheduled work hours and performs corrective work as necessary (minimum once every ten weeks)Adhere to and implement all safety rules, regulations and practicesPromote and maintain good relationships between co-workers, supervisors and the general publicWork with or for other Public Works Divisions as assigned, including snowplowing and other maintenance activities
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Nice to Haves: Associate's Degree or Diploma in Water Environmental Technologies or closely related fieldValid Minnesota Class C or higher Water Operator licenseValid Minnesota Class SC or higher Wastewater Operator licenseValid Minnesota Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air break and tanker endorsements3 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, and storm conveyance systems in either a Minnesota Class B or Class A water or wastewater utility system including infrastructure, appurtenances, and equipment3 years of experience with SCADA, CMMS, and/or GIS in the operation of a Minnesota Class B or Class A water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, or storm conveyance systemsPhysical Demands and Working Conditions: This position requires employees to work alone or in teams, drive a truck or heavy equipment, move/lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds, and climb to heights of 200 feet and depths of 100 feet. Work is 100% in the field (outside of an office environment) and can involve contact with climatic weather and rough terrain. Schedules and Work Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (except holidays). Must be available for extended workdays and callbacks. Shift changes, standby duties, and pager assignment to be assigned.Located in the Twin Cities metro area, Eagan is home to about 68,000 people.
