City of Dublin, Ohio is Hiring an Accounting Specialist - Finance Near Dublin, OH

Description

Primary Focus
Performs specialized and varied accounting functions within the Department of Finance and Fiscal Administration administrative function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, investment records, travel processing, Munis system, purchasing card transactions, and related functions.
Given the nature of this classification’s duties/responsibilities, it has been designated as Non- Exempt under the governing Fair Labor Standards Act regulations and, therefore, is entitled to formal overtime compensation and/or formal compensatory time.

Examples of Duties

Reviews and approves all vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and match purchase orders or contracts.
Generates bi-weekly check runs and ACH payments.
Performs purchasing card administration duties such as requesting new cards, increasing or decreasing credit limits and reporting fraud attempts.
Fields questions concerning invoices and purchase order processing in Munis as well as questions concerning purchasing card program from employees.
Verifies and processes purchasing card transactions on a monthly basis.
Prepares and processes all 1099S, 1099NEC, and 1042 forms on an annual basis.
Processes all utility bills for payment on a monthly basis.
Trains, guides, and assists end users in Munis as needed.
Assists and supports City staff in processing transactions.
Looks for opportunities to streamline and improve the accounts payable process to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Assists Director of Finance Operations with various tasks and projects. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree (Bachelor’s Degree i n Accounting or other relevant field required or preferred) and considerable experience with bookkeeping, accounting, auditing, or other relevant functions and operations (experience with governmental accounting, auditing, or other relevant functions and operations, including experience at the municipal government level, preferred), or any equivalent combination of accepted training and experience.
Knowledge of general accounting/auditing principles, practices, methods, functions, operations, and procedures.
Considerable knowledge of general accounting/auditing principles, practices, methods, functions, and procedures preferred.
Knowledge of governmental accounting/auditing principles, practices, methods, functions, operations, including knowledge at the municipal government level, preferred.
Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and cash management preferred.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office. Good organizational skills.
High attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to operate standard office equipment in performing essential functions (e.g. personal computer, fax, copier, telephone).
Special Requirements
Valid driver’s license.
