City of Denton is Hiring an Aquatics Cashier Near Denton, TX

This requisition expires on June 21, 2024, but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date. 
Responsible for operating cash register at municipal aquatic facilities and balancing cash drawer daily.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES
  • Operate an electronic cash register and perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Perform clerical duties, including but not limited to, receiving, maintaining, and accounting for all cash received.
  • Count, record, and reconcile all money, coupons, and other tickets accumulated during daily shifts.
  • Perform administrative duties at the front desk, including but not limited to, providing phone, electronic and face-to-face support to customers, directing individuals where they need to go, and enforcing proper safety precautions.

  • One (1) year experience with cash handling including use of operating a cash register and balancing the cash drawer, or related field,

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws parks and recreation, as well as City of Denton policies and procedures.
  • Skill in problem solving; identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Skill at the beginner level, working with Microsoft Office 365, and other software systems to complete work.
  • Skill in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Skill in interpersonal relationships, including using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations with accuracy.
  • Skill in operating 10-key adding machines, cash registers and balancing cash drawer.
  • Ability to motivate children and provide appropriate guidance and behavior management.
  • Ability to take charge and identify solutions quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently to manage multiple work tasks while balancing competing priorities with attention to detail and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work environment to facilitate/accomplish needed activities.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification.
  • Must be able to complete the City of Denton Cash Handling Training by the designated timeframe outlined for program.
  • Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Must acquire job specific certifications as determined by program.
SAFETY
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions in work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. 
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): No
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; cash registers and calculator.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting: Lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying no more than 10 pounds.
  • Environment: Works inside and outside with exposure to inclement weather, climate-controlled environment, noise, debris, odor, and chemicals; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
    • Must be able to work overtime or outside of normal business hours, as required.
    • Must be available for position trainings during the designated timeframe outlined for program.
    • Must be able to work the designated summer seasonal program schedule, dates will adjust annually, Monday - Friday with shift times varying between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
    • Must work the Citywide special event, date will adjust annually.
    • Must be able to complete the City of Denton Cash Handling Training by the designated timeframe outlined for program.
    • Must be able to work on a rotating schedule seven (7) days per week.
