DEFINITION:
Inspects city facilities such as streets, roads, sidewalks, rights of way, and medians to determine maintenance requirements. Consults technical documentation; coordinates with other departments on work requirements and lays out work; requisitions parts and supplies; assigns work and instructs subordinates. Operates and supervises the operation of vehicles, including pick-up and dump trucks, clam trucks, backhoes, forklifts, and tractors, to maintain city systems and facilities. Operates and supervises the operation of hand and power tools to service or maintain city facilities such as streets, roads, roadways, sidewalks, rights of way, and medians. Operates or supervises the operation of large equipment such as rollers, clam trucks, dump trucks, pumps, mowers, and tractors to service city facilities and outdoor areas. Installs or supervises the installation of irrigation pipes and other materials in repairing city systems, facilities, and outdoor areas. Ensures the safety of workers, vehicles, and pedestrians by installing warning devices in construction or maintenance areas.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Provides information to public concerning requirement for, and nature of, work to be performed. Composes a variety of technical reports documenting work performed. Attends periodic meetings to consult, coordinate, or receive information concerning work requirements. Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Requires four years' experience in roadway maintenance, roadway construction or closely related experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Requires a Class A commercial driver's license, with air brakes and tanker endorsement required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Requires a FDOT Approved Intermediate MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) certification or must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Position is subject to being "on call" and working after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays.
