This assignment is for the time that the employee is engaged in basic training at the Fire-Rescue Academy. It is a limited assignment designed to provide the training necessary to become a Fire and Rescue Officer.

LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:

Fire Certification Requirements

• Active/valid Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Fighter II certification (or higher).

EMS Certification Requirements

• Active/valid Texas Department of State HealthParamedic License Services (TDSHS) paramedic certification OR a National Registry Paramedic Certification.

Other:

• Valid driver's license with good driving record.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

• Must be actively employed on a paid, full-time basis for a fire department or not be separated from employment form a fire department for more than five (5) years.
• Military discharge status must be Honorable or uncharacterized (if applicable).
• Must be at least 18 years old and not have reached 45 years of age on the date of application ( added 12/11/23)
• Must be a U.S. citizen (birth or naturalized). If you are not a U.S. citizen, your immigration status must be current and must permit you to work a full-time job in this country. Applicants must have a valid Social Security card. If you have questions about your immigration status or work permit, please contact United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
• No felony convictions
• No class A misdemeanor convictions within the last five (5) years
• No class B misdemeanor convictions within the last two (2) years
• No more four (4) class C misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years
• Must not have committed or have been convicted of driving with a suspended license within the last 12 months.
• Must not currently be on probation for DWI or other traffic offenses.
• Must not be on probation for any crime at the time of application.
• Must not be under criminal investigation during the application process.
• Must not have any outstanding traffic warrants or pending citations.
• Must pass physical abilities test to be administered by the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department.

ONLINE Exam Description: Exam covers basic math skills, reading comprehension, ability to read and interpret maps/Mapsco, and industrial measurement. Time Limit: Three (3) hours.Base Pay
