Job Summary Provide analysis, programming, and testing to support the maintenance of departmental proprietary and process control computer operations, and management and analysis of department databases. Job Description Overview The Department Technology Analyst provides analysis, programming, and testing to support the maintenance of departmental proprietary and process control computer operations and the management and analysis of department databases. Essential Functions 1 Analyzes, evaluates, and reviews objective of department programs and the information requirements; designs, creates, and maintains computer database to gather data and effectively classify information. 2 Maintains, manages, and analyzes computer operating software, hardware, and network configuration within a department or division; identifies weaknesses and devises solutions to solve configuration problems. 3 Evaluates and plans software and hardware purchases to maintain and improve the system; prepares cost analyses of maintenance and enhancement of existing programs and hardware. 4 Writes, develops, and implements programs to extract information from the databases; develops formats and reports of information obtained to communicate status of programs and information. 5 Runs computer programs to analyze data received from electronic sensors, writes programs to compile information, and sets parameters of the data gathered. 6 Maintains several interrelated computer and data base information systems; develops and updates documentation of programs and systems, including change orders; analyzes network problems and resolves technical difficulties. 7 Modifies and maintains existing applications and software to improve system efficiency; analyzes programs and user problems to determine corrective action necessary to resolve new design. 8 Trains users, technicians, and less experienced personnel in using the system; assigns and oversees work of technicians monitoring field sensors. 9 Prepares and uses mathematical models on mainframe systems to answer engineering, scientific, or business-related questions, answers questions regarding reservoir levels, water flow, financial analysis, and other scenarios. 10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned. Knowledge and Skills 1 Thorough knowledge of multiple programming languages 2 Thorough knowledge of computer hardware, and two or more operating systems. 3 Thorough knowledge of network systems and configurations. 4 Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Environmental Data Acquisition Terminal (EDAT), 5 Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). 6 Ability to analyze information logically and propose computer-based solutions. 7 Ability to provide guidance to less experienced technical personnel. 8 Ability to communicate and present technical information orally and in writing. 9 Ability to perform repair and maintenance on computer hardware. 10 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing. 11 Establishing effective working relationships. Experience 2 years in business, information technology, or a technical position. Licenses and Certifications None Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer or business field or 2-year technical certificate with 2 years of experience in knowledgebase management in records management or similar area. Salary Range $54,910.10 - $68,637.63 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
