Job Summary Provides lead worker assistance for a medium to large crew or to a number of various crews which may include performing different tasks including but not limited to: forestry and park maintenance operations; routine to complex street repair projects; or operating and maintaining lake spillway gates. Job Description Overview The Park Maintenance Crew Leader leads, monitors, and directs crews performing cleaning, maintenance, care, and repair of parks, playgrounds, facilities, public spaces, and landscaping for the Parks and Recreation Department. Essential Functions 1 Oversees, delegates, and monitors employees' daily tasks to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and ensure quality control; performs all aspects of park grounds and pool maintenance; mows and trims, performs general park maintenance, monitors heavy equipment operation, provides minor pruning, applies horticulture methods, performs minor construction, monitors pool chemistry and care, and leads other related special projects. 2 Loads and unloads tools, construction materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs to be made; monitors and oversees safety protocols and practices. 3 Provides on the job training and leadership to ensure quality of maintenance work; assists with time cards and general time keeping and delegates assignments as needed. 4 Performs a wide range of clerical and administrative functions for the crew's performing maintenance and related work for the department; documents and tracks inspection work, general projects, accident or injury reports, and inventory management reports; assists with bidding and cost estimating, schedule development, and the documentation required following environmental spills and other emergencies. 5 Ensures playground and public equipment is in safe and functional order; inspects repairs to ensure they meet regulations and standards; documents non- compliant issues and take steps to rectify deficiencies. 6 Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operating conditions and ensures crews have the needed equipment for work orders. 7 Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction; handles hazardous or dangerous situations with professionalism and efficiency first line of contact for all Strike Team field-based employees. 8 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned. Knowledge and Skills 1 Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various construction repairs. 2 Maintaining and operating hand and power tools. 3 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures. 4 Knowledge of pool and chemistry levels depending on assignment. 5 Leading and providing direction for maintenance crews. 6 Ability to read and write. 7 Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time. 8 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships. Experience 4 years operating mowers and other lawn equipment maintaining public facilities, lakes, zoo, aquarium, and park grounds; and, collecting garbage/brush, and trimming landscape. Licenses and Certifications Texas Driver's License Education High School Diploma, GED Salary Range $45,987.16 - $56,874.59 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
