Operates various equipment and performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of city water and wastewater facilities, streets, parks, and storm drain facilities.
Experience Required: Three to five years experience in the operation of various equipment, including Half ton trucks, one ton trucks, dump trucks, back hoe, skid loader, pumps, mini-excavator, sewer jetter, hand and power saws, compressor, portable generators, common hand and power tools.
Minimum Education Requirements: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent.
Direct Supervisor: Public Works Director, Public Works Superintendent or Public Works Crew leader.
Supervisory Responsibility: Generally none; may supervise maintenance workers, part time and / or seasonal workers as needed.
Primary Work Location: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
