Job Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to Umpire Parks and Recreation's adult slow-pitch softball leagues. As an Umpire, you will play a crucial role in ensuring fair play and maintaining the integrity of the game.
Responsibilities:
-Making fair and unbiased decisions on plays, including balls, strikes, outs, and safe/out calls.
-Ensuring that all players adhere to league rules and regulations, and addressing any violations promptly and impartially.
-Maintaining control of the game, managing player conduct and any potential conflicts that may arise.
-Clearly communicating calls and decisions to players, managers, and spectators.
-Addressing questions or concerns from participants in a professional manner.
-Monitoring field conditions and weather with Site Leader to determine if games should proceed or be postponed.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a sports setting is preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with players, team managers, and spectators
- Conflict management skills to handle disputes or conflicts that may arise during games
- Knowledge of softball/baseball rules and regulations
- Ability to make quick decisions and accurate calls during fast-paced games
- Reliable and punctual
Schedule:
Summer league runs May 13-August 25.
Games are Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
