City of Colorado Springs, CO is Hiring a SEASONAL - Collections Technician (PT Maintenance Support) Near Colorado, CO

SEASONAL - Collections Technician (PT Maintenance Support)The CSPM (Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum), an accredited institution by the American Alliance of Museums, is seeking an experienced individual to assist with caring for, relocating, and monitoring museum collections during the HVAC installation project. 

This is a seasonal position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).

Normal work schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.
Essential Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
  • Catalog artifacts into the museum’s permanent collection.
  • Assist with moving, inventorying, condition reporting and rehousing of artifact collections.
  • Facilitate interpretive program offerings for regional students including the Hands On History School Program and History Detectives Outreach Program.
  • Support the development and implementation of fall family programming.
  • Assist with digitization projects including renaming, and resizing digital files, as well as scanning documents, photographs, and publications.
  • Assist with remote research requests related to local history of the Pikes Peak region.
  • Assist with arrangement and inventory of archival collections.
  • Enter records into museum’s PastPerfect collections database.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:
  • Principles and procedures of museum collections best practices
  • Familiarity with relational databases
  • Modern office equipment, including computers and supporting software
Ability to:
  • Work independently and in a team to support various museum programs and projects
  • Multi-task and work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in art history, anthropology, museum studies, or a related field
  • Experience using ladders, carts, and other equipment to safely move materials
  • Experience working in a museum, archive, library, or an anthropology lab

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Environmental Conditions: Work is performed primarily in a warehouse setting and possible exposure to dust, mold, and fumes.
