Pretrial Services Supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide strong leadership to fully implement, promote, and adhere by the department’s policy and procedures, principles, guidelines, and standards.
  2. Foster an inclusive and culturally competent work environment. 
  3. Maintain all job qualifications of pretrial officers under his or her supervision and have the knowledge and ability to perform all job tasks of those officers, including but not limited to the following: computer certification for Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS), the Ohio Courts Network (OCN), the Public Safety Assessment (PSA) and other related evidence-based practices in Pretrial Services.
  4. Supervise and assist Pretrial Officers in the development and implementation of case plans. Monitor and assess court processes. Review pretrial risk assessments and reports for accuracy. 
  5. Monitor, document and provide feedback to staff on performance issues, conduct routine quality-assurance and continuous quality-improvement reviews of staff, develop corrective action plans and coaching with staff as needed, recognize, and re-enforce when staff are performing above expectations.
  6. Actively participate in and contribute to department management team meetings and initiatives and assists in the development of policies and procedures.
  7. Review cases with judges when necessary.
  8. Share with the Director the responsibility for orderly conduct among employees and the prudent application of disciplinary measures intended to produce effective and efficient departmental operation in accordance with Personnel Practices Manual.
  9. May be required to work various hours during the workweek and be on call certain evenings and weekends.
  10. Interpret departmental policy and procedures to Pretrial Officers and provide direction. Train assigned Pretrial Officers in all aspects of their job. Evaluate Pretrial Officers’ job performance and recommend any corrective action or commendations.
  11. Monitor and assist with coordinating specialized programs within the Department and provide statistical reports as needed.
  12. Perform other tasks as assigned and may fulfill roles of other positions in other departments of the Court as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field required. Five years’ experience as a Pretrial/Probation or Parole Officer required.

This position requires community visits to agencies providing services to offenders and to residences of offenders. This position may involve controlled exposure to intoxicated, belligerent, or potentially violent offenders in court or a community agency environment.

In accomplishing the responsibilities of this position, the Court expects that the employee will adhere to the mission and values of the Court as well as all Court policies and procedures. In addition, while carrying out the duties of this position, the employee is expected to model high ethical conduct on and off the job, and exhibit a professional and respectful demeanor with all Court employees.

Qualified applicants will be required to submit to testing and may be required to provide writing samples. Proof of education and employment references will be required before final interview. Employment predicated upon successful completion of criminal record check and drug testing required. You'll be considered a probationary employee for your first 180 days of employment.
