Position Description
Entry Salary: $71,871.52
POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED
Under general direction, the Utilities Maintenance Supervisor supervises, directs, and oversees the electrical/mechanical work done in the maintenance, modification, repair, and service of lift stations, booster stations, wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, water wells, and storage tanks.
This recruitment is for our Public Utilities department.
Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions :Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Directs, leads, and oversees the maintenance, modification, repair, and service of lift stations, Water/Wastewater treatment plants and wells; supervises all electronic repairs and ensures quality; provides leadership, direction, and expertise for subordinates.
  • Attends and participates in extensive and consistent meetings regarding safety, upcoming projects, communication, manpower, disciplinary actions, and training requirements.
  • Creates and writes work orders; manages current work orders and ensures their completion; evaluates and reviews time and information entered on work order is accurate.
  • Oversees and trains new and current employees on all aspects of maintenance and repair work for the department; prioritizes and schedules work assignments, provides performance reviews, and initiates disciplinary actions when needed; supervises, oversees, and ensures the quality of a regular preventative maintenance program.
  • Inspects equipment and work to determine proper repair, service, and maintenance needs of station mechanical and electrical apparatus; identifies areas that need to be addressed, ensures appropriate work is completed, and facilitates the return to full operation; performs journeyman electrical work and mechanical duties for the department.
  • Establishes, develops, and implements methods, standards, and procedures of repair; updates techniques and trains staff on appropriate application; monitors general industry trends and recommends changes where appropriate.
  • Prepares daily records and paperwork to track all activities and work done; enters information into City computers, tracks daily hours, notes locations, and reports on results; monitors employee work and ensures quality.
  • Determines, procures, and disburses parts and equipment; obtains and secures quotes and bids for parts related to upcoming projects; tracks necessary purchases or material needs, and ensures successful purchasing for safety standards and successful completion of work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Ability to obtain a Forklift License.
Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class "A" Water Distribution or Wastewater Operator's license is preferred.

Does this position require a Commercial Driver's License? Yes
Type: Possession of Class B CDL, obtain and maintain Class A CDL within 1 year of hire date with necessary endorsements based on area of assignment.

This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides:
Meters, gauges, radios, phone, computers, and other equipment as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or G.E.D. Certificate AND seven (7) years of experience to include two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity, in the installation, modification, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, and related apparatus; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
